Providing photographers with a way to take photos that renders camera usage transparent, is surely the ultimate goal of any camera manufacturer? No? Well it damn well should be.

Rinse, Repeat
You know how you put an even number of socks into a washing machine, yet an odd number always come out? Well, I decided to investigate, and found said sock. I also liked what I saw from an aesthetic standpoint, and ran and got my camera, to Charlotte's surprise...

Sometimes the weather is just against you, no matter what. I lived in Manchester for a number of years, and basically lived by that phrase. There's just nothing you can do; it's overcast, or raining, yet you have to get on with things. Luckily, there was a break in the rain, so I took my camera with me on my way to see Interstellar at the IMAX.

I met up with a fellow RX1 owner and photography-enthusiast last night, for a bite to eat and a few drinks. He brought along his Ricoh GR, and I was quite impressed by it. The build is good, and the firmware really is as good as it's hyped up to be. With all the recent rumours and excitement over the "full-frame" NEX... I do wonder if people have chosen to forget the NEX firmware. Personally, I don't mind it (the NEX-7 has enough hardware controls), but I don't think I've heard one good thing about it. I wonder if firmware is going to be the main complaint of the FF-NEX - or maybe magenta casting when using Leica-M mount lenses below 35mm. Either way, short of very expensive Leica glass, I don't see the FF-NEX beating the output of the RX1 at 35mm - at other focal lengths there is no competition, of course ;)
The above photo is testament to the lens & sensor combination on the RX1. At ISO 12800, the fine print on the bottles is still clearly legible, which is more than could be said for my own vision at the time....
Note the amazing spherical ice (it was very difficult not to refer to it as an ice cube).
The Shadows
This photo is from last week - it's been raining here for the last couple of days and I've neglected my camera somewhat.

June's passing in a blur. It's almost July! The weather has gone from a pleasant spring, to a muggy and humid rainy season in full-swing. Today's weather was extremely humid, and though there was no rain during any of my commute, the gusty winds made for an all-round unpleasant experience!
I should add that I have finally given in and started my air conditioning system. The ice-cool breeze is very refreshing; outside it's 30°C and around 90% humidity...
Criss Cross
I went for a stroll on Saturday afternoon during a break in the near-constant rain. I was meeting friends for drinks in Ginza, and thought I'd walk there from Asakusa-bashi, as I fancied a walk by the river.
The contrast of the hatchings on the wall with the round wave-like patterns on the ground, caught my attention. Through my polarised sunglasses, the scene was similar to that above - devoid of any colour.
